Project 001.4 (completed)
Purchase of a hand tractor to compliment the HTV-001 paddy harvester donated to Prabhavi Resources Centre
What did my donation go towards?
001 supported the purchase of a hand tractor which can be attached to the HTV-001 paddy harvester. The hand tractor was donated to Prabhavi Resources Centre so that the hand tractor together with the paddy harvester could be hired to local farmers.
Who did 001 partner with?
001 again worked with Prabhavi Resources Centre, a Sri Lankan non-government organisation based in the small village of Weranketagoda, 300km from Colombo in the eastern province of Ampara.
Prabhavi has been operating since 2003 when it re-developed a disused government building for use as a community library and computer-learning centre. As well as supporting local youth in English language and computer literacy, Prabhavi facilitates innovative agricultural, conservation and community health projects.
Who implemented the project?
Nelan Dayarathne, President of Prabhavi since 2006, was responsible for liaising with 001 and coordinating the project.
What was 001’s financial support?
001 provided AU$1,730 to Prabhavi to enable purchase of the hand tractor.
Who evaluated the project?
Prabhavi has provided a report outlining moneys raised from rental of the hand tractor and paddy harvester during the first harvest season in 2007. These funds were used to purchase nine computer monitors for Prabhavi’s information technology and resource centre, a fantastic bonus for local students using the centre.
